Grooming Tips

A brush for all occassions

Slicker brush - useful for untangling hair and breaking up mats.

Boar-bristle brush - removes loose hair and helps release oils from the pet's skin and to distribute the oils along the hair shafts.

Pin brush - removes loose hair and is used mostly in shows for fluffing coats.

Rubber curry brush - removes dust and dirt from short haired breeds. Also good to use in the tub while shampooing.

Mat comb - excellent for removing mats without destroying the coat.

Shedding blade - good for removing loose hair by pulling it from the top coat and the under coat.

Undercoat rake - good for loosening and removing all dead undercoat hair.

When brushing or combing a dog, do not do any more than five repetitions in a row. Move on to another section and then come back to it. You don't want to irritate the pet's skin.
